The lifted aromatics of this wine are thanks to the climate in which the Pinot grows as well as the small amount of stems included in fermetation.
Loaded with spice and mineral, like a Pinot Noir from Burgundy but this wine is uniquely Lake Chelan in style. Grapes from two north shore vineyards and 4 different clones ( 113, 114, 115, and 777) were used in this bottling.
Fruit forward with sweet black cherry, pomegranite and spicy flavors. The medium body is supple with notes of black tea and glacial minerals. Smooth and round with balanced acidity wrapped in light toasty oak.
We elected to
ferment with native yeasts and bottle without fining or filtering to express the character of the Lake Chelan Valley.
Excellent paired with duck, salmon, game birds or roast chicken.
18.5+/20 Points. Rand Sealy Review of Washingon Wines. "Sourced from the South Shore (80% Clos Chevalle) and North Shore (20% Gary’s Vineyard) and 30% whole cluster fermented, this shows a medium brick red color and sultry, smoky aromas of fraises de bois, red currants, pomegranates, dried rose petals, tobacco leaf, forest carpet and incense. The flavors are medium bodied but substantial and true to variety, with red fruits that are imbued with red licorice, baker’s chocolate, black tea and glacial minerals. The back reveals pressed fruits, crème de cassis and pomegranate seeds, followed by a moderately oaked (40% new French) smooth tannin finish."
Medium ruby-colored with classic Pinot Noir notes of mulled cherries, spice and underbrush, the 2016 Pinot Noir Lake Chelan is medium-bodied, seamless and elegant on the palate , with a fine, finess-driven style. It has true Pinot Noir typicity, is nicely balanced and has loads to love. You don't find many noteworthy Pinot Noirs from Washington, but this is one of them. - 91 points Jeb Dunnuck, (formerly with Robert Parker's Wine Advocate). - 2016 Vintage.
